Equipment
Bows
We have used both recurves and compounds, but because of the need for a quick snap shot situation in a lot of instances, we prefer the recurve. Draw weight can vary from light (35Lbs.) for small fish to heavy ( 60 Lbs.) for large fish such as the Alligator Gar. Eric and I both use Bob Lee Signatures, 61 Lbs. at 27".

Reels
There are several reels designed just for bowfishing on the market, and over the years, we have tried most of them. Overall, tried and tested, we have had the best results with the Zebco 808 and 888 (Stainless Steel with "Boss" handle and Star drag.) We liken them to the Timex watch: "Takes a lick'in, and keeps on ticking." Loaded with(~ 30 yards) of the Brownell fast-flite 200Lb. line.

Fish Points

There is no point made that is perfect for all-around bowfishing! I have tried them all, and each have their flaws. Most points work fine for average size fish, but when you arrow a hundred pound plus fish, "the truth is in the pudding". The weakness and failure tend to show up in the barb structure and the "easy-off" features of a point. We have lost several good fish because the barbs rotated  caused by sheer power of the fish.
Pictured below are three of the points that we use. The Loch Ness and Moby Gar are being tested and I hope to pu them on the market soon.
